summer 2021 travels

This summer has been one of LOTS of travel — it’s safe to say I’ve spent the last 2 months making up for lost time after COVID19 ruined all of my trips last year. While my trips have been incredible and the time off was way overdo, I’ve been off of my routine in terms of my typical workout split + nutrition; that being said, I thought I would touch on a common theme among women: anxiety or fear of getting out of a routine, whether it’s for a day, a week, or a month!

Through all of my traveling, I can honestly say that I didn’t feel an ounce of guilt or stress, despite being out of my routine for several weeks, and I want to encourage you and help you to learn how to feel the same! The secret? Patience + logic. Okay, that may be a bit oversimplified, but in the interest of your time + attention, that’s ultimately what it comes down to. When I was away, I worked out when I could or when I wanted to and was patient with myself when it didn’t work with my schedule or when I chose to optimize my vacation time through various other activities. I also continued to drink lots of water to stay hydrated in between all the delicious meals + drinks I was enjoying. I can promise you that you are NOT going to want these trips, gatherings, excursions, etc. to be overshadowed by restriction + guilt over what you did or didn’t do. If you think about it, isn’t that the whole point of a vacation or time off?! To relax? To indulge? To take time off from your typical day-to-day routine? Drink the drink. Try different meals that you wouldn’t normally eat. Prioritize new, unique experiences and memories.

And…what do you do differently when you get home? Absolutely nothing. Get back into your normal routine. Prioritize hydration and fueling your body with nutritious foods and get back into your workout routine! Your progress did not come after a week or even a month — it’s not going to disappear in that time either. If you struggle with feeling anxious or guilty about relaxing some of your normal habits on vacation or for special events, send me a message and let’s chat! I want to help, because the ability to do just that is K E Y to creating a healthy, balanced, and sustainable lifestyle.
